Students, faculty affirm commitment to promoting respect for diversity and continuing anti-bias effortsWHAT: In a school-wide ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on May 15, the students and faculty at Prairie View High School will celebrate the school’s designation as a No Place for Hate® School, having completed a year of anti-bias and anti-bullying programs. Representatives from the Anti-Defamation League will attend the ceremony and present the school with its official No Place for Hate® designation banner.
To earn this distinction, Prairie View High School formed a No Place for Hate® committee, adopted a resolution pledging to create a more inclusive school, participated in ADL’s A World of Difference® Institute program and implemented a number of projects/ activities promoting respect for differences. Projects completed this year include ADL training, attending the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference, creating a School Climate Survey, signing the Resolution of Respect, the formation of the Unity Club, participation in the national Day of Silence, and the presentation on respect by speaker Norm Hull.
Prairie View High School is the first school in School District 27J to participate in the ADL program and receive designation as a No Place for Hate® school.
2008-2009 was the first school year for this new campaign. This is just the beginning of what ADL anticipates to be a spring filled with No Place for Hate® designations. Prairie View High School is one of 21 schools in Colorado and Wyoming participating in the No Place for Hate® program in the 2008-2009 school year.
