Through the Helping Hands initiative, Community Development and Brothers Redevelopment will work together to paint houses and fences, clean up yards, fix and replace fences and conduct minor exterior home repairs for qualifying homeowners from June 8 through June 19, 2009. Neighborhood restoration efforts will take place in the Welby neighborhood, bounded by Washington Street and Colorado Boulevard between 70th and 88th avenues.
All improvements will be completed free of charge for qualifying homeowners with a $30,000 Community Development Block Grant from Adams County Community Development. The scope of home repairs will range from house painting and patch-up repairs to caulking and yard cleanup. Community Development intends to assist at least 30 homeowners through the program this year.
Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for the Welby projects are available. Individuals, service organizations, non-profits and civic groups interested in being program sponsors or volunteers are asked to contact Adams County Community Development at 303.453.8500 by the end of May 2009.
Community Development and Brothers Redevelopment are seeking assistance to identify homes in the Welby neighborhood that could benefit from improvements or repairs.
