Denver, Colorado, May 7, 2009 - Project PAVE, a nonprofit organization serving children and families who have experienced relationship violence, is partnering with The Janus Foundation to award scholarships to graduating seniors who have risen above violence and abuse to pursue their dreams of a college education.

Scholarships will be awarded at a luncheon May 7, 2009, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the Seawell Grand Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Mitch Jelniker , 7NEWS Anchor, returns as the luncheon emcee.

Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter, a Project PAVE supporter and board member, is the keynote speaker for this year’s event. Governor Ritter served as Chairman of the Project PAVE board of directors for 12 years and has a long history of involvement with the agency. The First Lady joined Project PAVE’s board of directors in 2007, and has been an active volunteer and advocate for the agency’s clientele during her tenure.

“These incredible young men and women are a testament to the power of inner strength and resiliency. They have faced more hardship than most of us do in a lifetime and we could not be more proud of their successes,” says Michael Johnson , Project PAVE’s executive director.

Project PAVE ’s mission is to empower youth to end the cycle of relationship violence. Services include violence prevention education, victim identification, and clinical counseling delivered at the agency’s City Park office and at elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Metro Denver.

Individual luncheon tickets are available at a cost of $100 and sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels.
