Rep. Perlmutter Announces Over $417 million in Stimulus Dollars for the 7th Congressional District

Washington DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is proud to announce the following funding update on H.R. 1, the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, for the 7th Congressional District of Colorado.

“This level of funding is a testament to the high quality research institutions, municipalities, small businesses and government facilities which reside in the 7th Congressional District. Over the next several months my office will continue to assist my constituents maximize the opportunities available in H.R. 1. As the funding streams continue to be released in the stimulus package, I am confident this money will help Coloradans and this nation during these unprecedented economic times. These investments are already saving and creating new jobs for the 7th Congressional District and Colorado and will continue to grow,” stated Perlmutter.

Listed below are the major H.R. 1 investments awarded for the 7th CD thus far:

· National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) – over $126.78 million for biofuel/ wind/ fuel cell research and facility construction and infrastructure improvements.
· West Corridor Light Rail - $40 million. · Approximately 91,000 7th Congressional District residents are scheduled to receive an estimated $22.88 million in recovery payments.
· Buckley Air Force Base - $8.5 million for infrastructure and energy efficiency improvements.

· Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge – $3.3 million for a new energy efficient visitor center and maintenance backlog.

· $32.5 in various CDOT transportation infrastructure improvements.
· Over $69 million for CD 7 School Districts - Title 1 and IDEA Grant funding over two years.

· Denver Federal Center : over $70 million for infrastructure improvements in H2O, sewage and electrical upgrades. Approximately 4 million in existing building energy efficiency upgrades and $40 million in solar energy features providing up to 70% of their electricity needs.

· University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center – research equipment purchase - $86 thousand.
· Arapahoe, Jefferson & Adams County - Emergency and Food Shelter Program – over $485 thousand.
