A little about the Jacob Anthony Bustos Memorial Scholarship
Jacob Anthony Bustos was born on April 3rd 1982 in Denver, CO. He died June 26th 1999 at the young age of 17. At the age of 11 he moved with his family to Bismarck N.D. Jacob missed his extended family and friends even with the many trips he and his family made back to Commerce City. Jacob wanted to return to Commerce City to attend Adams City High School where he was to graduate that following year, Class of 2000. Now his many trips would be back to Bismarck to visit his family and friends there. What was to be an evening of close friends gathering for some fun and laughs ended in a nightmare that to this day would never be forgotten. An argument between a young man and one of the friends at the gathering took place over the phone. The young man showed up with a friend and an altercation took place. Although Jacob was not directly involved he was brutally stabbed to death. Two other friends sustained serious stab wounds, but survived. Such a senseless act of violence put upon Jacob, his loved ones and friends. Jacob still leaves us with great memories of good times and laughter and that ever so famous happy grin. He was very dedicated to his family, friends, and school. Although not a straight A student but average that had gained the respect from his fellow students, teachers and administrators. Jacob had a love for sports; he also enjoyed camping and fishing. It has been 10 years since that tragedy happened. We, his close friends and family who are college graduates, family men and are establishing our lives and careers would like to start in Jacobs honor a $500.00 yearly memorial scholarship fund two seniors graduating from Adams City High School. For us this will keep Jacob alive in his and our community, it will also help young adults become more aware of how precious life is and how fast it can be taken away. This also will reflect how a tragedy like this can change people’s lives forever. We want to give someone an opportunity that was taken from Jacob. We are making the scholarship eligible to applicants with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0. He/she must be accepted to any 2or 4 year accredited college or university or any accredited vocational/trait school is also eligible.

Donations may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank in Care of: Jacob A. Bustos Memorial Scholarship Fund.
