COMMERCE CITY – Staying fit, a love for reading and having fun are three gifts every parent wants to give their child. The giving is easier with help from Commerce City ’s Parks and Recreation Department, which offers some great extra-curricular programs for preschool-age children.
Give your preschooler fun reasons for staying fit with Active Kids Fitness. Help them learn to love reading with the Bookworm Club. And let them experience the excitement and adventure of themed programs such as The Great Outdoors, Trains, and a Teddy Bear Party. These activities and more are offered this fall at the Commerce City Recreation Center.
The Recreation Center is the site of Kinder Kids, a state-licensed preschool program that runs Monday-Thursday, 9-11:30 a.m. With a teacher/student ratio of 1/8, children are well supervised and engaged in the daily program.
Preschoolers from Kinder Kids and other area programs are invited to extend the fun and learning with specialty classes following regular preschool hours Monday-Thursday and on Fridays.
From tumbling and other gymnastics exercises to games of tag and more, Active Kids Fitness will help children burn off energy and give them new ways to exercise while having fun. Active Kids is offered noon-1 p.m Monday and Wednesday and is open to ages 3-5.
Introduce your child to some of literature’s classic characters with the Bookworm Club, an interactive story time that will have kids laughing and learning. Bookworms will meet noon-1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; this club is open to children ages 3-5 as well.
On Fridays, themed programs are offered that help develop children’s skills through crafts, games and more. Themed classes are offered in two groups, for tots age 18 months-3 years and preschoolers age 3-5. Tots meet 9-9:45 a.m. and preschoolers meet 10 a.m.-noon. Participants will love this fall’s programs, with themes that include Back to School, The Great Outdoors, Miss Spider’s Tea Party, Autumn Adventures and more.
Classes fill fast, so hurry to sign up. To register, call 303-289-3789 or visit the Recreation Center at 6060 E. Parkway Dr. For more information, call 303-289-3659.
