GOLDEN — Addressing UQM Technologies shareholders at their annual meeting, Gov. Bill Ritter today applauded the Frederick-based company’s for its innovation in new energy manufacturing that will create new green jobs in Colorado.
UQM was recently awarded a 10-year contract to provide components for Coda Automotive’s electric vehicles and a $45 million Recovery Act grant to accelerate production of components for electric and hybrid vehicles. The Recovery Act funds will allow for up to 3,000 new jobs to be created.
“It is a testament to Colorado’s New Energy Economy that we can support the addition of thousands of green jobs in our state,” said Gov. Ritter. “UQM is leading Colorado and our country forward through innovation and clean energy technologies,”
“UQM is a perfect example of a Colorado company that has evolved and embraced the New Energy Economy. Founded in 1967, UQM originally fabricated fiberglass components for airplanes and kit automobiles. Today, UQM’s ingenuity in manufacturing will help shape a new energy future for all of America,”

The Office of Economic Development and International Trade will continue to assist UQM in their site selection and other expansion efforts.
