27J teacher wins Best Should Teach award

Elizabeth Alexander, fifth-grade teacher at 27J’s South Elementary, has received the Best Should Teach Gold award from the University of Colorado. Presented by the Graduate Teacher Program and the School of Education, the Best Should Teach Gold award recognizes outstanding teachers from area public schools.

Alexander was nominated for the award by Kelly Corbett, 27J director of Staff Development.

In his nomination, Corbett wrote, “Liz is a learner. She reads professionally and implements her learning at an amazing rate of speed. The learning is always geared toward improving the learning of her students and their academic success.

“Students in Liz’s classroom are lucky to have a teacher that is so current and up to date. Ms. Alexander’s classroom also represents a place of high expectations. The action and learning are fast paced and exciting.”

The C.U. Best Should Teach Initiative strives to acknowledge excellence in teaching and academic leadership.
