RTD will provide free rides on all RTD services from 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day

Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) once again wants to be your designated driver by offering free rides on all regular bus and light rail service, as well as access-a-Ride and skyRide service on New Year’s Eve from 7:00 p.m. until 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2010. Plan your New Year’s Eve trip ahead of time by visiting RTD-Denver.com.

The transit agency has offered this free fare program for the past nineteen years to encourage celebrants and non-celebrants alike to use a safer, more reliable mode of transportation rather than driving their own cars. Note that RTD is not offering more service or additional routes, but all of the regularly scheduled service will be free of charge.

All regularly scheduled bus and light rail service will operate on a normal weekday schedule on New Year’s Eve, Thursday December 31, on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on New Year’s Day, and a normal Saturday schedule the following day.

RTD recommends that riders plan ahead by getting schedule information from RTD’s web site at www.RTD-Denver.com or from RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303.299.6000 (open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on New Year’s Day). Call 303.299.6089 for the speech and hearing impaired.
