COLORADO REPUBLICAN CHAIRMAN DICK WADHAMS RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

DENVER – Colorado Republican State Chairman Dick Wadhams released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s First State of the Union Address:

"President Obama attempted to convince the American people this evening of his newly discovered concern for fiscal responsibility after crushing defeats of his candidates in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts. The 'stimulus' bill he signed in Denver one year ago with Governor Bill Ritter, Mayor John Hickenlooper, Senator Michael Bennet and Representatives Betsy Markey, John Salazar, Ed Perlmutter, Diana DeGette and Jared Polis all trying to be in the photo opportunity, not only failed but it drove unemployment up to 10 percent.”

“Colorado has lost tens of thousands of jobs since the failed Obama-Ritter-Hickenlooper-Bennet 'stimulus' bill was signed. President Obama continues to push his job killing 'cap and trade' and health care reform bills despite clear and increasing public opposition. Just like Governor Bill Ritter who withdrew from running for reelection in the face of near certain defeat, Mayor Hickenlooper and Senator Michael Bennet continue to mindlessly support the failed Obama agenda to increase the size, cost and scope of the federal government."
