City of Brighton Tree Program continues

The City of Brighton reminds residents that trees are still available for purchase through the 2010 Tree Program. Approximately 100 trees are still available for purchase on a first come, first served basis.

Trees will be reserved once they are paid for and will be available for pick-up in mid-April. Available trees include 12 different species chosen specifically for Brighton’s water demands and soil conditions. Trees will initially be five to 12 feet in height.

The 2010 Tree Program is provided to encourage tree planting, species diversity and water conservation. Master gardeners will be available during pick-up to answer any questions.

The program guidelines include:

* Trees must be planted within Brighton city limits, on public right-of-way or on private property.
* Limit of five trees per household.
* Participants must make arrangements to pick-up trees.
* Participants are responsible for planting, maintaining, pruning and watering trees.

To order a tree, visit www.brightoco.gov and visit “Forestry” under the “Parks and Recreation” link or call 303-655-2054.
