Commerce City hires new intergovernmental relations manager

COMMERCE CITY – The city has hired Mizraim "Miz" Cordero as its new intergovernmental relations manager.

Cordero will be responsible for developing relationships with legislators and state officials to represent Commerce City ’s position on key issues. Cordero will also lead community relations efforts and provide support in the grants administration function for the city.

A native of the Dominican Republic , Cordero immigrated to the United States in 1989. Cordero graduated from Lehman College of the City University of New York with a bachelor’s degree in social work and minor in sociology. He earned his master’s degree in clinical social work from NYU’s School of Social Work . In 2005 Cordero graduated from Columbia University ’s Executive Business School Not-For-Profit Management Program.

Prior to working for the city, Cordero was acting administrator for the Adams County Head Start Program.
