Statements from Sen. Kopp and Rep. Stephens on the health care vote

Sen. Mike Kopp, R-Littleton:
"Despite overwhelming public opposition, Washington D.C. Democrats steamrolled the American people and the citizens of Colorado today by ramming the health care bill through."

"It's baffling that the ruling party from D.C. to Denver does not get how sick and tired the people are of being abused by their government."

"We need reform that is focused on patients and their health care choices, not back room political deals."

Rep Amy Stephens, R-Monument:
"The health care vote taken today by the U.S. House of Representatives, amid widespread opposition, comes at a time when Americans are economically struggling and fed up with Washington style politics."

"This health care bill will further hurt Colorado's economy through increased taxes, fees, and even more mandates and violates the conscience of many religious-minded Americans. My constituents and those of many of my colleagues are against this government takeover of our health care system."

The pair is calling on Democrats and Republicans in the Colorado General Assembly to join together for a Colorado opt out of the Washington mandated health care takeover.
