DRCOG HONORS BRIGHTON AND THORNTON FOR WATER DELIVERY PROJECT

April 28, 2010 (Denver, Colorado) – Brighton and Thornton have captured a Local Government Award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for their Water Delivery Project. The award was presented at the regional council’s 2010 Awards of Excellence Dinner, held April 28 at the Infinity Park Event Center in Glendale.

The project earned the Bronze Award in the awards program’s Collaboration category, which honors cooperative projects.

When Brighton entered into a treated water lease with the City of Westminster, it needed a way to convey the leased water to its destination while crossing the City of Thornton. Working together to take advantage of existing infrastructure saved time, money, and the inconvenience of construction for the two cities.

DRCOG’s Local Government Awards program has recognized local governments and their employees for regional leadership and service since 1982.
