Holmes Report Recognizes MGA Communications’ Work Among Top Five PR Campaigns of the Decade

Denver, Colo. – MGA Communications and its clients at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal were recently recognized for conducting one of the Top Five PR Campaigns of the Decade by The Holmes Report, a leading international publication within the public relations field.

“We are so pleased to have our clients and their programs recognized by our peers. We realize how fortunate we are to have clients who give us the opportunity to partner with them on programs that have a positive impact on the community,” said MGA President Jeff Julin.

According to Editor Paul Holmes, the five campaigns were selected as being “among the best of their kind,” demonstrating “the strategic thinking and creativity that help clients cut through the communications clutter…and capture the imagination."

Holmes cited the Rocky Mountain Arsenal communications program as one of the best community outreach examples of the decade. For more than 20 years, MGA has managed a community engagement program for its client Shell Oil Co. at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the U.S. Army. The program has focused on the ongoing cleanup and transformation of the site into a premier urban national wildlife refuge.

This recognition is one more in a string of national awards for the Denver-based public relations, marketing and research firm. Last year, MGA received its third Silver Anvil in three years from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the icon of best practices in public relations. MGA is one of only a few firms in the Denver market to have its work so consistently recognized. MGA is also known as a thought leader within its field – Julin served as Chairman and CEO of PRSA in 2008 and was instrumental in revising the organization’s Code of Ethics.

The other campaigns recognized by The Holmes Report were:

Ketchum and Frito-Lay for encouraging customers to create a SuperBowl ad for Doritos.

Liz Claiborne and its agency Patrice Tanaka & Company (now part of CRT/tanaka) for their long-running Women’s Work cause-related marketing program.

The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide for The Heart Truth campaign and its introduction of the Red Dress icon.

Fleishman-Hillard and its support of SBC Communications, Yahoo! and Cingular Wireless for their efforts to help individuals displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
