South Adams County Water & Sanitation District: NOTICE - Sewage Spill

UPDATE: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Tri-County Health Department are working with the District to ensure that all necessary measures are being taken to neutralize the effect of the spill.

Residents in the area reported an odor last week. Although District staff responded, the source wasn’t found until Saturday. The manhole cover had been removed and was filled with rocks, which caused the sewage to backup and spill out into a large area of the field. The manhole and sanitary sewer line have been cleaned and the flow has returned to normal.

Cleanup of the site includes scrapping and disinfecting the area. Tests are being conducted to ensure that all necessary measures are being taken to neutralize the effect of the spill.

As additional information is available, this message will be updated. Thank you for your cooperation as the District completes cleanup efforts.
