4th of July Wild Walk offers patriotic fun for the entire family at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge

A red, white, and blue 5K and 1K Wild Walk will be offered on the 4th of July at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge beginning at 9:00 a.m. Families can kick-start their holiday with wild and healthy fun walking along Refuge trails that meander along wetlands, woodlands, and prairie while searching for wildlife.

This free family event is scheduled in three waves from 9 a.m. to noon. The 5K walk includes red, white and blue trivia questions about Refuge wildlife. The 1K walk is a short, family-friendly stroll around Lake Mary which has interactive Wildlife Learning Stations spaced along the trail.

The entrance to the Refuge, located at 56th Avenue and Havana Street, will open at 8:00 am and close at 12:00 pm in observance of the Federal holiday. Please call the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at 303-289-0930 to reserve space for you and your family.

This special event is sponsored by Commerce City, Friends of the Front Range Wildlife Refuges and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
