Pancake Breakfast and Charity Beef Show Set

Adams County’s CSU Cooperative Extension will again host two main events on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, closing day of the fair. The pancake breakfast will take place at the Adams County Fairground’s Waymire “Dome” Building from 7 to 10:30 a.m. and the annual Charity Beef Show will be at the fairground’s Indoor Arena at 9:30 a.m.

The 4-H Pancake Breakfast has become a fair tradition and a chance for 4-H members, their families, fair participants and county residents to enjoy breakfast together as the fair comes to a close. Local, state and national dignitaries, as well as political candidates, are invited to attend and be introduced at the breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Once again, Colorado State University will be participating.

The Invitational Charity Beef Show pairs an elected official with a future leader in agriculture to encourage community awareness of the value of showmanship and the importance of agriculture in Colorado. Each 4-H member will instruct his or her partner on the basics of beef showmanship and their partner will have an opportunity to enter the show ring to show off their new skills. The list of elected officials participating this year includes county officials, Colorado legislative officials, city mayors and city council members. The top five participants will win a cash award to be given to the charity of their choice.
