Visit the Commerce City Family 9Health Fair!

The Commerce City Family 9Health Fair is taking place on Saturday November 6 and Sunday November 7 at the Adams City High School in Commerce City from 8AM to 1PM both days. This 9Health Fair has tons of great screenings and activities for adults and children. It will be a happy, healthy and fun event for the whole family. 9News will be there, Univision will be there, will you be there? We hope so!

There is not charge to get into the event, but a few of the screenings are offered at a low cost. Most screenings and activities are completely free! Here are some of HEALTHY things you can do at this event

Keep the flu bug away this winter: Get a Flu Shot adults ($20) and children ($10)

Adults can learn about their health through these FREE screenings:

· Ask Medical Question and Get Referrals

· Breast Screening

· Eye Health Screening

· Finger Stick Glucose Screening

· Foot Screening

· Kids Height/Weight/Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening

Adults can choose from many low cost options for blood work

© Blood Chemistry Screening (12-hour fast recommended) Gives you information on your blood sugar (glucose), cholesterol, triglycerides, liver, kidney, bone and muscle function. May show warning signs of diabetes, heart disease and other concerns $30

© Blood Cell Count Screening (not included in the Chemistry Screening above) Drawing a second tube of blood, this screening tells you about the health of your blood and your ability to fight infection, identify anemia, infection or certain cancers. The four components of the test include white blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value and platelet count $15

© PSA Screening (for men over 40 with a family history and all males 50 and older) If chosen, this third screening may provide early warning signs of prostate cancer $25

© Hemoglobin A1C Gives average glucose level over the last 60-90 days $25

© Colon Cancer Screening Take Home Kit (men and women 50 or older, unless you have a family history, symptoms or concerns) This take-home kit screens for signs of colon cancer in your stool. This mail-in kit is quick, simple and easy to use in the privacy of your home and no special diet $20

Everyone can join the fun in the wellness center

· Fuel Up to Play 60: Make a difference in the health of our youth. The National Dairy Council and the National Football League present Fuel Up to Play 60, a program that motivates children and their families to make wellness a priority. "Get active and play" for 60 minutes daily and to "fuel up" with nutrient-rich foods such as low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Make wellness a reality by spreading the word and making changes that can last a lifetime. Come visit the Broncos' MILES 10am Saturday, November 6th!

· Alas de Yoga: By Focus Points Family Resource Center, helping to build better communities by strengthening families through workshops and group activities. Classes throughout the day.

· Family Fitness Challenge: How many jumping jacks can you do? How many push ups or sit ups you can do? Who's in better shape you or mom or dad??? Come take the family challenge!

· KidsRunningAmerica: Empowering children with the means to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. EMPOWER THE LIFE OF A CHILD! Keep kids healthy, active and fit, run a marathon! Running Down Childhood Obesity.

· RailYardFitness: The RailYard condition course is a fun and functional training course with climbing, crawling, jumping and ducking. It provides cardiovascular conditioning, improved agility, coordination and balance, increased speed, increased flexibility, increased posture, and increased confidence! Come see how you do on this course!

· Jump rope with a world champion: Come jump rope with a 5-time world rope skipping champion: Molly Metz
