Rollover Accident Causes Traffic Delays in Commerce City

COMMERCE CITY - On November 21st at approximately 2:15pm, officers from the Commerce City Police Department responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 270 eastbound, between Highway 85 and Quebec St.

A Chevy SUV was in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 270 and lost control, rolling at least twice and coming to rest on its roof. Of the six family members inside the vehicle, at least two were not properly restrained and were ejected from the vehicle.

The family, two adults and four children, were all transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. These injuries ranged from minor to serious, though no life-threatening injuries have been identified.

Drugs and alcohol are not determined to be factors at this time. Interstate 270 was closed down to one lane during the investigation, but has since been re-opened.

The Commerce City Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of the increased traffic volume as the holidays approach. Be sure to give yourself more time and space to get to your destination, and to always wear your seatbelt.
