Adams County Commissioners are expected to adopt a 7 point reform package...

The Adams County commissioners plan to introduce a seven-point package of reforms at their regular meeting this morning. The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the Adams County Government Center, 4430 S. Adams County Parkway in Brighton.

The reforms include:

• Centralize the county's purchasing process.

• Establish an internal audit function with an independent auditor.

• Establish procedures for acquiring property from county officials, employees and their relatives.

• Conduct a survey of residents that includes the possibility of increasing the number of commissioners from three to five.

• Add language to the Code of Ethics to prohibit county officials and employees from doing personal business with contractors.

• Have directors of county departments report to the county administrator, rather than the Board of County Commissioners.

• File a lawsuit against those alleged to have taken money in the Quality Paving case.
