Preliminary 2011-2012 Budget for School District 27J

Chief Financial Officer Heather Copp presented the preliminary budget to the school board last evening. The Board will approve the budget at the June 14, 2011 meeting. Dr. Blunck talked about this budget reflecting the Board’s goals and multi-year impacts; state’s rescissions over the past two years; 72 cents of every dollar come from the state thus the economics of the state affect our revenue; 84% of the budget in 2012 will be invested in instruction; the District will match funds raised for middle school sports which will help us sustain the program; as Dr. Blunck emphasized in his “State of the District Address” our current educational delivery system is not sustainable; because of increased efficiencies in the system there will be an increase of $3.6 million into the schools to support academic achievement.
