Assessor Gil Reyes
Adams County District Attorney Don Quick announced today that Adams County Assessor Gil Reyes was served a summons charging a violation of §24-6-203, CRS Reporting by Incumbents and Elected Candidates - Gifts , Honoraria, and Other Benefits.

The Denver Post reported last month that Reyes had three possible honorarium violations. The District Attorney’s Office investigated these allegations and during the investigation it was discovered that only one violation could be charged due to the expiration of the statute of limitations in the other two incidents.

Reyes is charged with a misdemeanor which carries a penalty of a $50 to $1000 fine.

The District Attorney’s Office investigation of Assessor Reyes handling of property assessment appeals is ongoing. The District Attorney’s Office is awaiting the Division of Property Taxation at the Colorado Department of Local Affairs to complete its review before making a filing decision.
