Brighton: Fourth Avenue Water Main Replacement to Begin July 19

On Tuesday, July 19, the City of Brighton will begin work to replace an aged water main on Fourth Avenue between Bridge and Skeel streets. The city will also be replacing all of the old service connections to each building and old water meters. The project will bring a new water line to about 85 properties.

The replacement is anticipated to take 30 days followed by the repaving of Fourth Avenue. Workers will begin at Bridge Street and work their way south. Please note that the intersection of Bridge Street and 4th Avenue will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Detour routes will be set up.

Residents should be advised that during the replacement, there will be minor disruptions to water service and water may be shut off for up to four hours. Residents will receive notice at their home 24 hours in advance of any shut off. Additionally, street parking will be disrupted during the duration of the project and some traffic detours will be in place.

For questions concerning the water main replacement, please contact the Utilities Department at 303-655-2082
