7NEWS: Adams Co. Files Suit Against Former Workers, Contractors

Suit Alleges Former Public Works Director Accepted $200,000 In Work On His Home

Adams County filed a federal lawsuit against seven of its former employees and contractors, alleging the group conspired to defraud the county of nearly $9 million in paving work.

The lawsuit, which says that the investigation was sparked by a series of CALL7 investigations, also accuses former Adams County Public Works Director Leland Asay of receiving cash, jewelry and as much as $200,000 in work on his property for as little as $40,000 from Quality Paving officials. Asay approved millions of dollars in contracts for Quality Paving.

"ABC Channel 7 ran a report that enabled the detectives to begin identifying potential witnesses concerning allegations of County employees receiving personal benefits from the Quality companies," the lawsuit says. full story click here...
