Denver POST: Budget problems hit Adams County Jail; space will be limited

The Adams County Jail will soon limit the number of prisoners it will house from the county's cities because of budget and space problems.

The municipal bed-space restriction plan kicks in Aug. 15, with cities in Adams County getting a designated number of beds allotted for their prisoners based on the population of that jurisdiction.

Staff cutbacks at the sheriff's department, prompted by budget restrictions and a nearly two-year-long hiring freeze, is forcing the Sheriff's Office to cut the number of municipal inmates, said sheriff spokesman Sgt. Terrance O'Neill. Full Story Click Here...
