Denver POST: Colorado appeals court upholds city council's secret ballots

Rules that keep meetings of elected boards open to the public don't guarantee that the public has a right to know how those seated officials vote, according to a state Court of Appeals ruling released Thursday.

The court sided with the Fort Morgan City Council, which was sued after members cast secret ballots to fill vacancies on their own board and to appoint a municipal judge.

The Appeals Court judges pointed out that nothing in Colorado's open-meetings laws expressly prohibited the practice. Full Story Click Here...
