Winners Selected for United Power’s 2011 Holiday Card Coloring Contest

The winners of United Power’s 2011 Holiday Card Coloring Contest have been selected from nearly 400 entries. The following children have won $50 in cash and the honor of their drawing decorating corporate holiday cards mailed by the electric cooperative this holiday season. Congratulations to the following students:

Kindergarten: Ace Miles, Lochbuie Elementary
1st Grade: Titon Hebert, Northeast Elementary
2nd grade: Aylin Gomez, Hudson Elementary
3rd Grade: Chloe Ortolani, Second Creek Elementary
4th Grade: Alexandria Miles, Lochbuie Elementary
5th Grade: Cali Breed, Bacon Elementary
6th Grade: Erica Kolanowski, Coal Ridge Middle

All winning drawings can be viewed on the cooperative’s website www.unitedpower.com. The seven winning cards will be available for sale in a Holiday Card Variety pack in late November. Sales of the holiday cards benefit Operation Round-Up, United Power’s charitable foundation.

A committee of employees narrowed the selection to the top four entries in each grade category and then all employees were invited to vote anonymously for their favorite drawings. This is the second year United Power has held the Holiday Card Coloring Contest. The coloring contest asked children in grades kindergarten through sixth to illustrate “How Electricity Makes My Holidays Bright”. The drawings detailed holiday memories of baking cookies, gifts that require electricity to operate, holiday lights hung both inside and outside, and many more creative ideas.
