Adams County Commissioners Announce RTD Board Vacancy Appointment

The Adams County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathi Williams of Brighton to the RTD Board, representing District K.

When the vacancy was created for District K on the RTD Board, the Board of County Commissioners was authorized to appoint the replacement as most of District K falls within Adams County. Last week, the commissioners interviewed six finalists from a pool of 16 candidates, and met in study session on Dec. 12 to consider their final selection.

“We were very impressed by the quality of applicants we interviewed to fill this vacancy,” said Chairman W. R. “Skip” Fischer. “We appreciate the spectrum of experiences and qualifications that each of them brought to their respective interviews.”

Williams has a great deal of experience serving Adams County in various capacities. This experience includes serving on the RTD Board from 1980-1984 and as a state representative from 1984 – 1990.

“Kathy really stressed building consensus and collaboration as her top priority for the board,” said Commissioner Alice J. Nichol. “She had a clear direction for RTD and we are confident that she will accomplish great things for her constituents in District K and for the whole northern metropolitan area.”
The RTD Board faces a great deal of opportunities and challenges with the many transportation projects RTD has on the horizon. As a result, this is a critical time for the northern metro area to have strong representation on the RTD Board, as important decisions are being made that will be vital to the county’s transportation system.

“Transportation is a significant issue for Adams County and the health of our economy,” said Commissioner Erik Hansen. “Having a strong advocate like Kathi on the RTD Board is going to be critical to meet the growing demands placed on our transportation system.”

  1. Obviously, a very well thought out appointment. I like the direction the AC Commissioners are going. A new sense of working together with other agencies and cities.
