Thornton Mayor Pro Tem, Eva Henry, this week announced her bid for Adams County Commissioner, District 1

Eva Henry
Eva Henry has lived within the Thornton community for over 38 years. She was raised and attended school here. Throughout this time, she learned the value of hard work and giving back to her community. Many of these years were difficult, as Eva struggled as a single mother raising two children, Maurice and Danielle, on her own. Eva recognized the value of her community and the help she received from her neighbors and her children's educators. She always taught her children to give back to the community and never take from it, as this is the foundation to strong communal ties. Eva has spent several years in community service, actively engaging in working family issues and volunteering in the schools. She has a great passion for Thornton and chose to serve her community in City Council.

Eva's children have also followed in her foot steps, working toward building a stronger community. Eva's son, Maurice, chose to serve his country when he turned eighteen. Maurice has a strong commitment and has served his country for over 14 years. Maurice has also been featured in "Go Army" ads throughout the country. Danielle graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she received a Political Science Degree. She now works fighting for working families.

Eva believes in community involvement and has engaged in numerous projects that involve social justice and veterans issues. She has been involved in several groups that work on subjects important to families. She left her eighteen year career in finance in 2007 to become a full time advocate for working families.

Eva's passion is her community and that community is the City of Thornton. She taught her children to give back to society. Her son serves in the military and her daughter fights for working families. She wants to expand that sense of commitment to the rest of the city.
