Accident involving a Northglenn Ambulance

COMMERCE CITY ― At approximately 2pm on Wednesday afternoon, officers from the Commerce City Police Department responded to the intersection of State Highway 2 and Holly Street for an injury accident involving a Northglenn Ambulance.

The investigation revealed the ambulance was southbound Highway 2, approaching Holly Street. The ambulance was in emergency mode, with lights and siren activated, and was responding to a medical call. A minivan was southbound Highway 2 as well, preparing to turn left onto Holly Street. The ambulance started to go around the minivan, when the minivan turned into its path. The vehicles collided and the ambulance rolled onto its side.

Both of the ambulance crew members sustained minor injuries, but due to the position of the vehicle, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the South Adams Fire Department. The driver of the minivan was uninjured.

The investigation is on-going, and drugs, alcohol and speed are not thought to be factors at this time.
