On March 29th, 2012, the Commerce
City Police Department responded to a report of a 7-month-old child and
began an investigation. On March 30th, the child's mother, Sharrieckia
Page was arrested and the missing child was presumed to be deceased. On
April 9th, police began planning a search of the Denver Arapahoe
Disposal Site for the child's body. With the help of 34 agencies,
including the CBI and FBI, a search of 2.5 acre site was conducted over
the course of 53 days before the child's remains were found.
Through a methodical process of
hand-searching material, emergency responders and trained volunteers
went through 9,900 tons of material, covering about 68% of the site. The
Child remains were discovered on May 30th. Authorities identified the
remains as that of a 7 month-old male child of Sharrieckia Page on June 7th. The District Attorney has charged Page with
First Degree Murder (F1) and Child Abuse Resulting in Death (F2).
The search site was the equivalent of the size of Dick's Sporting Goods Park, 8 to 20 feet deep.
There were around 500 people who spent 17,431 hours in the search. The
search effort had an approximate cost of $10,000 per day. The total
approximate cost of the effort was $574,670.00 in which was all funded
by the city of Commerce City. Photos of the effort Click Here... CCPD Chief Saunier stated: "They were working through hell so one small soul could go to heaven..."
