Perlmutter Congratulates Colorado Selection for New US Patent Office

U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter released the following statement congratulating the State of Colorado on being selected as the new site of the regional U.S. Patent office.

Perlmutter stated, "Innovation is key to building the jobs of the future in Colorado and throughout the country.  A patent office in Colorado will bring good jobs to our state, spur development of new ideas and ensure we make things in America again.  If we make it in America, we will make it in America."

Recently, Perlmutter had the opportunity to discuss the importance of the new USPTO with President Barack Obama when the President was in Colorado.  Perlmutter highlighted Colorado's educated, innovative and dedicated work force as key reasons why our state should be selected.

For more than a year, Perlmutter has been working with Colorado's Congressional delegation including U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet and Mark Udall as well as local business leaders urging President obama and the USPTA to open an office in Colorado.  This new office could have nearly a $440 million economic impact in Colorado and support more than 1000 new jobs directly and indirectly.

Attached is a letter Perlmutter initiated with the rest of the Colorado Congressional delegation to the administration in support of the satellite Patent office.
