COLORADO REPUBLICANS TO HOLD GOVERNOR, SENATE CANDIDATE FORUMS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

DENVER – Colorado Republicans will hold a forum and straw poll for candidates for Governor and U.S. Senator during the second annual Colorado Republican Centennial Dinner this coming Friday, September 25 at 6:00 PM in Keystone.

The Senate and Governor forums will begin at 6:30 PM and dinner ticket purchasers (cost is $50 per ticket) will be able to vote in the straw poll following the completion of the forum. The dinner and forum are open to the media but only dinner ticket purchasers (one vote per ticket holder) will be allowed to attend the dinner and vote in the straw poll.

“This will be the first opportunity for candidates for Governor and U.S. Senator to appear and make their case before a large gathering of Republican leaders from across Colorado,” said Colorado Republican State Chairman Dick Wadhams. “Colorado Republicans are well served by a vigorous, competitive nomination process that will make our candidates and their campaigns sharper and better.”

All seven formally announced Republican candidates for U.S. Senate are expected to participate in the Senate forum and straw poll including Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck; Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier; Montezuma County civic leader Gary Kennedy; Crested Butte businessman Luke Korkowski; Douglas County resident Vincent Martinez; former Colorado Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton; and Denver businessman Cleve Tidwell.

Two of three formally announced Republican candidates for Governor have committed to participate in the Governor forum and straw poll including Evergreen businessman Dan Maes and Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry of Grand Junction.

Former Congressman Scott McInnis has declined to participate in the Governor forum.

The Colorado Republican State Central Committee will meet on Saturday, September 26 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon also at Keystone to approve details for the 2010 Republican precinct caucuses and state assembly. Speaking during the meeting will be Attorney General John Suthers, Congressman Mike Coffman, University of Colorado Regent Steve Bosley, and other candidates for state and congressional offices.
