COMMERCE CITY – Hot coffee and live music are on the menu as we turn the Recreation Center lounge into a jazz club for the Encore event, Java and Jazz, on Friday, Oct. 16.
Residents age 50 and older are invited to cap off their week by relaxing with friends at Java and Jazz, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Commerce City Recreation Center, 6060 E. Parkway Dr. Flavored coffees and pastries will be available and are included in the $5 cover charge.
Entertainment will be provided by popular Denver saxophonist Jeremy Wendelin, who plays at venues throughout the metro area as a soloist and as a member of several musical groups, including his own band, the Jeremy Wendelin quartet.
Java and Jazz is presented as part of Commerce City Parks and Recreation’s Encore program, for adults 50 and older. The Encore program includes three focus areas. Over 50, After 5 is a series of fun social events and includes Java and Jazz. Never Too Late to Learn offers arts, crafts and education via classes, events and excursions. Active Living features health, nutrition and exercise opportunities.
For a complete schedule of Encore offerings, see the Parks and Recreation brochure, available online in PDF format at www.c3gov.com (click on Parks and Recreation).
Encore’s next social event is a daytime tour of the Hover Home, decorated for the holidays. This 1913 home features more than 6,000 square feet of decorated space and is a real treat to see. The tour is planned for Dec. 12.
