Aurora, CO–U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07), is pleased to announce the Aurora Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center is the recipient of a $46,706.00 grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help reduce homelessness among the veterans population in the Aurora community.
“Providing more veterans with shelter this winter is another step in fulfilling our promise to those who bravely sacrificed for our nation,” Perlmutter said. “These rehabilitative services help our veterans remain self-sufficient and safe while transitioning back into our community.”
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki announced 19 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will share more than $17 million in grants to community groups to create 1,155 beds for homeless Veterans this year. The annual grant program awards funds to public and community non-profit groups in order to establish housing and supportive services to the homeless veteran’s community.
