Community Development Awareness Week Open House

Adams County residents, community groups, businesses and non-profits are invited to attend an open house at Adams County Community Development (ACCD) during the 2010 Community Development Awareness Week, April 4 - April 10. The week is part of an effort to highlight the impact federal grant programs have in communities throughout Adams County and nationwide. The open house will be held on Wednesday, April 7, noon to 4:30 p.m., at the Adams County Western Services Center, 12200 Pecos Street in Westminster. Snacks and beverages will be served.

ACCD's mission is to promote economic vitality through effective partnerships and management of funding that stabilizes the low- and moderate-income populations and communities, maximizing economic opportunities throughout Adams County. Adams County Community Development manages several federally-funded programs for affordable housing, community development, neighborhood revitalization, economic development and human service activities. Historically, funds administered by ACCD have been used to support programs or services that are offered through homeless facilities, food banks, shelters, senior services, nutrition programs, health programs, housing programs and transportation programs.

In partnership with non-profit organizations, neighborhoods and community groups, ACCD seeks to employ community development principles through a process that is: results-oriented with measurable impact on the lives of citizens, especially for low- and moderate-income groups and minorities; participatory to truly reflect community priorities and enable community members to influence the decisions that affect their lives; collaborative to forge effective partnerships between communities, public, legislative and private sectors; and reflective of the diversity and cultural aspects within communities.
