Democratic Incumbent Michael Bennet's campaign has begun a petition drive to get his name on August's primary ballot.
Thus so far, the Democratic Party is showing signs of favoring challenger Andrew Romanoff.
According to the Bennet's campaign spokesman Trevor Kincaid, the move is part of an overall campaign strategy and has nothing to do with last month's precinct straw poll which left Bennet as the second string.
NOTE: Candidates must collect 1,500 signatures in each congressional district.
