United Power has selected the following winners of the annual Youth Trip program. David Long of Golden, Alicia Ruiz of Black Hawk and Lane Shivley of Brighton will attend the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in July. Mackenzie Dolan of Brighton, Danielle Fullmer of Fort Lupton and Bridget Sutton of Erie will represent United Power in June on the CooperativeYouth Tour of Washington, D.C.
Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp
David Long is a junior at Ralston Valley High School. He is an Eagle Scout and patrol leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He has received an academic letter award and Order of the Elks student of the Month award.
Alicia Ruiz attends Nederland High School where she has been consistently recognized on the honor roll. She is also a vocalist and violinist who has performed in high profile venues across the state.
Lane Shivley attends Brighton High School where he is currently treasurer on the National Junior Honor Society. He plays guitar, drums and piano on the high school band and jazz band.
Cooperative Youth Tour of Washington, D.C.
Danielle Fullmer attends Fort Lupton High School where she serves as a library board student representative, and participates in the French club and the Drama club.
Mackenzie Dolan is a student at Holy Family High School and enjoys many sports including volleyball and track. She is a member of the Mission club and French club.
Bridget Sutton attends Erie High School and is a varsity cross-country and track athlete. She is also a member of the school’s debate team and has performed in school plays.
Youth trips are awarded each year to high school juniors or seniors served by United Power. Winners are selected based on academic performance, extra curricular activities, volunteer efforts and a brief essay. Applications for the 2011 Youth Trips will be available on United Power’s website www.unitedpower.com in December of 2010.
