Nine Local Ladies Are SkatersLong time Commerce City resident Teresa Haft is a member of the Denver Roller Dolls on the Bad Apples Team and she informed us about this exciting opportunity for entertainment and also maybe to get some of you ladies out there onto roller skates. It is great exercise and a lot of fun.
Granny Apple, the groups “spokes skater” visited the Commerce City Council’s study session on Monday night to invite the community at large to come see the ladies skate at the Fillmore Auditorium, which is located at 1510 Clarkson Street in Denver. Their next bout is on April 25th at the Filmore. More excitement is in store as the Denver Roller Dolls will be hosting this year’s Regional Championships in October.
These gals aren’t just athletic and energetic; they also have great big hearts. The Denver Roller Dolls spend their time off the rink doing volunteer work for several Denver based charities as well as making personal appearances. Pretty ladies doing some pretty amazing skating feats and being pretty good citizens. The whole package.
The nine local skaters from Commerce City come from all walks (or skates!) of life. You might know Maria Borrego, she is a newly inducted Doll and will soon be on a team, as well as Christy Rigby and Bella Jerrant (aka Lyn Alcala), Bria Friad (aka November James), Sports Racer (real name is anonymous), Bullet Proof (aka Kim Fenstemaker), Black Eyerish (aka Regina Steward), Halo (aka Regina Baca) and of course our favorite, TC Top Cat (aka Teresa Haft).
The group practices in Brighton at the Wagon Wheel and there are about twenty skaters from Brighton. There are gals from Centennial and even Winter Park in the group as well.
