RTD offering frequent riders an opportunity to become a member of the Community Emergency Response Team
Next Training May 13, 21 & 27
Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is inviting some of its frequent riders to participate in a three-day training that will prepare them to be a member of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for RTD. This is a free training program.
The CERT program will educate passengers about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact RTD’s transit system with training in basic response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. They will know how to evacuate RTD vehicles and facilities in the event of an emergency.
As an RTD volunteer CERT member, they will be expected to participate in future RTD-based classes or refresher training exercises. CERT training is open to passengers that ride RTD frequently, and each participant will also be subject to a background check.
Passengers can call the RTD Security division at 303-299-2650 to register for a training.
