COMMERCE CITY – Getting out of bed is never easy, especially on the weekends. But it can be well worth the effort when hot pancakes are ready and waiting, as they will be May 16 at the Commerce City Recreation Center.
Give yourself a pat on the back when you get out of bed and head to the city’s 24th annual Pancake Breakfast. Bring the family for a meal that you don’t have to make. Along with a plate full of melt-in-your-mouth pancakes with butter and syrup, you’ll get sausage, orange juice and coffee. What better way to start your weekend?
The annual breakfast is a fund-raiser for older adult programs and services at the Recreation Center. Money raised benefits various activities, such as quilting and The Music Makers of Commerce City.
It also benefits the Goodfriends scholarship program, which aids low-income residents with funds for membership at the Recreation Center and its programs for older adults. The Goodfriends program helps older adults participate in recreational activities and services and provides opportunities for them to stay actively involved in the Commerce City community.
Breakfast is 7-10 a.m. and will be cooked and served by senior volunteers and Recreation Center staff. Cost is $3.50 in advance and $4 at the door; children five and younger eat free.
Tickets are available in advance at the Senior Center volunteer desk, inside the Recreation Center at 6060 E. Parkway Drive. For more information, contact the Senior Center at (303) 289-3720.
