COMMERCE CITY ― On Friday, June 5, 2009, at approximately 7:38 a.m., Commerce City police officers responded to the 6900 Blk of Dexter Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival officers discovered one vehicle with minor damage high centered in the front yard of a home.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an eight year old male had taken his mother’s keys. He then entered her vehicle, started it and drove around the block one time. A witness in the area saw the child driving and attempted to stop him, however the child lost control of the vehicle, ran into some fences and high centered the vehicle on some landscaping rocks.
The child was not hurt in the accident.
Due to the child’s age he cannot be charged with a crime. The investigation will continue to determine mother’s liability.
Due to the ongoing investigation no names are being release at this time.
