COMMERCE CITY, CO - The 4thFest fireworks show at Dick's Sporting Goods Park was pre-empted tonight due to technical difficulties, the Colorado Rapids and Commerce City announced.
System-wide electrical problems led to severe complications in execution of the annual display, causing distortion of the show's music tracks and the crashing of the show's fireworks firing system.
The Rapids and Commerce City announced that a make-up show will be held at Dick's Sporting Goods Park following the Rapids home game on Saturday, July 25. Fans holding tickets from tonight's game will be able to attend that event free of charge.
"We truly regret that we weren't able to provide the quality of fireworks show that our fans and our neighbors here in Commerce City deserve and have come to expect from us on Independence Day," said Jeff Plush, Managing Director of the Colorado Rapids.
"We apologize for tonight's postgame experience, and invite all Rapids fans and residents of Commerce City to rejoin us on July 25 and allow us to give them the kind of show that they deserve."
For further information, or to speak with a guest relations staffperson, fans can call the Dick's Sporting Goods Park Guest Relations Hotline on Monday at (303) 727-3748.
Further details will be made available in the coming days.
