The Colorado Rapids Will Host the Club’s ‘Meet the Team’ Day for all Colorado Youth Soccer Members on the Stadium Field in this Free EventCOMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, July 29, 2009) – The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club will host “Colorado Youth Soccer Kids Fest 2009” on Saturday, August 29th at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
This free event will give all of Colorado’s youth soccer players the chance to watch the team train on the stadium pitch, and then come down on the field to meet their favorite Rapids players, while getting pictures and autographs, all in a festival atmosphere.
Parking and admittance are free to the event.
Rapids Kids Fest will run from 10 am-2 pm on Aug. 29th. Fans will be able to enter the stadium and watch the team take part in that day’s official training session from 10 am–12 pm.
Following the practice session, fans will be able to join the team on the field level to meet and chat with players, get autographs, and take pictures with their favorite Rapids players.
Head Coach Gary Smith will address the crowd on the microphone, and food, drinks, music, a vendor village, and interactive activities will also be available for attendees.
“The Rapids’ involvement in youth soccer is one of the foundations that our organization is built on,” said Jeff Plush, Managing Director of the Colorado Rapids. “The development of young players in Colorado is an important part of our sport’s growth and being able to foster that through events like this is something we truly value.”
“Colorado Youth Soccer is thrilled to join the Rapids in sponsoring this fun event,” said Jon DeStefano, CYS President. “It will be a great opportunity for our young players and their families to experience professional soccer close up.”
