The South Adams County Fire Department will be conducting a training session at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Firefighters will set fire to a dilapidated modular office trailer and extinguish the flames. The exercise will take place within the central portion of the site.
The training exercise is part of a long-standing mutual aid agreement between the Arsenal and South Adams County Fire Department to respond to fire and/or emergency issues. All contaminated cleanup activities at the Arsenal have concluded and the remaining work at the site will be completed in 2010.
Most Arsenal lands are now part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. South Adams County Fire Department also has a mutual aid agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and responds to fire and/or emergency issues. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be supporting the South Adams County Fire Department in the Nov. 12 training session.
