Hats and Gloves Donations Keep Commerce City Warm this Holiday Season

COMMERCE CITY, CO. – The City of Commerce City has teamed up with a local citizen to provide warmth with donated hats and gloves to children in need this holiday season. And with frigid temperatures outside, timing couldn’t be better.

Residents of Commerce City will gather at the annual Derby Winter tonight, where children will celebrate the season and be gifted with donated hats and gloves. Any hats or gloves left over from the event will be donated to other organizations serving citizens of Commerce City.

The City of Commerce City purchased 500 pairs of gloves and 500 warm hats to donate to city residents and children. The hats and gloves program creator and Commerce City resident, Robert Romine, collected an additional 200 donated pairs of gloves and 200 donated hats from community members. As a result, 700 children in Commerce City will feel a little bit warmer this winter season.
The hats and gloves holiday donation program began three years ago when Commerce City resident Robert Romine approached the city with the idea to help families in need.

“The City of Commerce City wholeheartedly supports the hats and gloves donation program, and we want all of our residents to be safe and warm this winter,” said Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale.
