Colorado Medicaid Receives $.5 million Grant to Improve Application Process

DENVER – December 18, 2009 – The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing has received a $575,000 grant from the Colorado Health Foundation to reduce the public health insurance application processing time, improve client satisfaction and increase the enrollment of eligible Coloradans in Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus, or CHP+.

The grant will fund the Colorado Eligibility Process Improvement Collaborative which will contract with the Southern Institute on Children and Families to work with 15 local county departments of social/human services to assist them in developing improved processes that are common in the private sector. Improved processes will decrease the length of time an applicant waits to learn if they have health care coverage.

The grant award is for a 14-month period.

  1. They need to scan their documents so that the food stamp caseworker on one floor can see the same thing as the tanf caseworker on another floor. It's ridiculous that they don't share documents in Adams county. Very inefficient.
