Perlmutter Applauds US 36 Corridor Funding

$10 million Announced Through Recovery Act TIGER Grant

Lakewood CO – Today, US Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) congratulates 36 Commuting Solutions and the broad coalition of partners working to improve the US 36 Corridor on receiving an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant for more than $10,000,000 from the Department of Transportation for the Managed Lanes/Bus Rapid Transit Project.

“Receiving these critical ARRA funds in Colorado will put people to work, improve safety and the quality of life for all communities serviced by US 36. This TIGER Grant will help complete a key phase in this important corridor,” stated Perlmutter. “This funding announcement demonstrates the strength of the project and the improvements it will bring to area residents, including the residents of the 7th Congressional District. As a regular user of US 36, I am committed to seeing it completed as an example for modern transit in our nation.”

One year ago today, President Obama signed into law H.R. 1, the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Overall, in the 7th Congressional District, 16 different multi-modal transportation projects have been funded through ARRA to put Coloradans to work improving our transportation infrastructure including improving bike paths, light rail, pedestrian access, roads, bridges and highways.
