About the Author of the Book Commerce City

Debra Bullock, 54, born in Boulder Colorado, and raised in the Commerce City area. Her avid interest in local history comes honestly. Her family moved to Henderson in 1959. - not too far from what was to become Commerce City, the subject of this new book.

A 1973 graduate of Adams City High School in Commerce City, Colorado, she was delighted by the opportunity to compile and edit this photographic history. This project led to the creation of The Commerce City Historical Society.

Bullock and her husband (Rene’) and the members of the URCC (United Residents of Commerce City) are the founders of The Historical Society and are both active in establishing the society to be a future source for all the residents to learn about the rich history of Commerce City. Debra currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Historical Society.

When not doing genealogical or historical research, Bullock works at the Starkey International Institute of Household Management (a Private School), as the Director of Education.

She hopes that this work will bring back fond memories and inspire the telling of more colorful stories. Bullock regards the book as a present to The City of Commerce City on the occasion of the First Annual event of the Commerce City Historical Society and just the beginning of many other books to be written.

What lasting impact do you hope your book will leave? I want this book to inspire the residents to get involved and create a source for all residents new and old to know the history of the past and present and look to the future, so generations to come will be able to know by reading and seeing through stories, videos, etc. as to how the City was built before them.

There are two book signings, One on March 28th at the new Mugsy's Coffee Shop 7250 Monaco at 1pm. One at the annual event for the Historical Society On April 25th from 1pm at the Werth Mannor 8302 Rosemary.
